This comarca, or rural district, is a land of
legends, spirits and traditions situated in the
north-east of the Principality of Catalonia,
at the foot of the Pyrenees, receiving the caresses
of the Tramuntana winds and the kiss
of the Mediterranean Sea.

Since ancient times, the Alt Empordà
has been represented by the image
of the Shepherd and the Mermaid,
universal symbols of the mountain
and the sea, two decisive factors which,
at Capmany, also determine the singular,
unique character of our grapes
and of our wines.
